Tarantula Chinese phone solution meets growing needs in India and Middle East

Reaching out across the world in key markets for Chinese cell phones and handsets based on Chinese chipsets, eDEC has introduced a beta version of Tarantula, the first comprehensive forensic solution for analysis of phones based on Chinese chipsets.  The majority of these phones are commonly referred to as "White box phones", and they have been a growing problem for digital forensics analysts.  

Eric Ryan, president of eDEC states, “We knew that there would be interest in analyzing white box phones in the middle east because 30% of worldwide phones are now based on Chinese manufactured chips. We were surprised, however, at the high percentage of Chinese phones in use in the Middle East and the level of interest that we found at the trade show. We were told that terrorist and criminal organizations intentionally use white box phones because they’ve been difficult for the police to analyze. The police showed genuine enthusiasm for Tarantula as a solution to the problem. “
